  From My Hospital Bed

I am writing this from my hospital bed after having been here almost a week !  When Penny previously asked me to share a devotional for the Women's Ministry, I had no idea what was ahead-extreme pain, vomiting, intrusive testing, and finally surgery to cut an adhesion that had constricted the small intestine.  Now, I am set aside to recuperate and to be strengthened.  This reminds me again, that we do not know what a day will bring, but one thing we do know, is that God is faithful to His own.

It is wonderful to have the "peace that passes all understanding,"  especially during a time of unknowing circumstances.  I had confidence that God was with me, as I went into surgery, that He was in control of everything in the operating room, and the outcome.  Whatever that would be!  Thankfully, the outcome was good, the problem was repaired and I am in the process of healing.

God is at work doing things we may not be aware of, He revealed something very special to me and my family just before going into surgery.  A young resident named Nathan, came over to me, took my hand and prayed.  He became a special blessing to me all week long , and I to him, I believe.  He would come in and visit whenever possible.

There was also a special nurse divine appointment, we had many times of sharing together.  I discovered God plans to use us right where we are, if we are open to His leading.  God used me this week to minister to many around me with a smile, a chat about their loved one, a listening ear to a lonely and tired nurse.

God had me in the hospital for His purposes!

In life, there will be unexpected detours, throwing us off course, but God uses these to draw us closer to Him, teaching us to trust, and that He works things out for our good and his glory.

May you be encouraged, as you walk daily with Him, looking to him for your every need.  He is worthy of my trust and yours.  To God be the glory, great things He has done!

Sincerely in the Lord,

Judy Churchwell
