Two years ago I became part of
a group with my mother called Passport to Purity. Along with my
friend Taylor, and her mother Laura, two other moms and their
daughters joined us. Sarah and Neda Joyce, and Carrie and Geri
Lucas.
The first time we met, we all
went to a bed and breakfast, where we stayed for a night and went
over the study Passport to Purity. In this study we learned how to
stay pure for Christ and how to make the right decisions. That time
was very enjoyable and our group still continues to meet once a
month. We are now working on another study called Changed into His
Image.
Recently, we went to Denver,
Colorado, along with Candi and Sandy Fender to the Girls of Grace
Conference. We stayed in a hotel for two nights and went to the
conference on Friday and Saturday. The experience was wonderful and
the message was very inspirational.
As follows are the four main
topics we covered at the conference and the main points of each:
Boys:
"That's why a man will leave his own father and mother. He
marries a woman, and the two of them become like one person..."
Gen. 2: 24-25
- Marriage came first.
- Is God being glorified in
what you do?
- Purity is not just about
what you physically do or don't do. It's really a matter
of your heart.
- Red Flags for Dating:
- Your date is affectionate
w/you.
- He looks at other girls
when w/you.
- He always wants alone
time.
- He always talks about
himself.
Family:
"Children obey your parents in the Lord, for this is
right." Ephesians 6:1
- Sometimes we have a one
track mind.
- Maturity earns trust.
- Friends before family should
become family before friends.
- Try to see the big picture,
let your first thought be love.
Friends:
"There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the
tongue of the wise is health."
- Friendship takes work and a
will to try.
- The mouth and tongue can
hurt or heal.
- Three trouble spots for
girls:
-Gossip
- Criticism
- Sarcasm
Faith:
John 15:1-5 (please look this up it was too long to write out)
- It is important to abide so
that we will bear fruit and glorify God.
- Read a chapter of Psalms or
Proverbs every day.
- Pray: Matthew 6:6.
- Keep a prayer Journal.
This information was very worth
while for me and I learned a lot on the trip we took. I am glad I
was able to share this information with you and I hope you got a
taste of what happened there.
God Bless,
