It Was Pitch Dark!

Hello Ladies!

This afternoon, I was thinking about an experience I had at my oldest daughter's house a while back.  I always love to visit and spend time with the grand kids.  My place to sleep was in a spare bedroom in the basement off of the Family Room.  My age seems to dictate that at lease once during the night I'll have to make a trip to the bathroom!  I had taken a flashlight to bed with me -just in case.  Of course, that's what happened ---and since there was no bathroom downstairs -I had to go through the entire basement -up the stairs -through the kitchen -the living room -and finally reach the muchly needed room!  IT WAS PITCH DARK!

God wants a life completely surrendered to Him.  A life that totally, lovingly, trusts Him.  A life not constantly scanning the darkness around us, but focused on the light He gives daily, through His Word and intimate times communing with Him.  (One decision at a time, one event at a time, one day at a time, one..... at a time).  When I'm not sure what His direction is -I quietly find time to read His Word and allow it to speak encouragement to my heart.

God says in Isaiah 30:21, "Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, 'This is the way; walk in it ."' (NIV)  My hearts desire is to take the time each day to learn to know God more intimately and "hear" that quiet voice of direction.

May each of us take that next step in faith -whatever God is showing you- and walk
in that light trusting the future to Him.

Serving the Lord together with you,

Elvira

"He guides the humble in what is
right and teaches them His way."
                                     Psalm 25:9 (NIV)

I turned on the flashlight to make my treck and followed the circle of light on the floor -one step -one foot at a time.  I couldn't see anything, except where the light would shine.  As I slowly made my way through the house -it seemed God was teaching me a lesson about my walk with Him.  So often, He shows us only one step (one day -one hour) at a time.  My timing is not the same as His and I am impatient.  It's usually in hindsight that I look back and see how clearly His  plan for me and my loved ones -and He certainly does have a plan -Jeremiah 29:11 assures us of that.

For my personal devotions, I like to read through books of the Bible, asking God to speak to my heart.  It always amazes me how in a difficult time -when I turn to my regular place of reading -God uses that very Scripture to give me direction, guidance, peace, encouragement -or whatever is needed right then.  Sometimes, that happens in the middle of the night when I can't sleep.  I'm just sure I'll be exhausted the next day if I get up and spend time reading His Word.  Somehow, the strength of that time with Him carries me through, in spite of the lack of sleep.
